 Eligibility Criteria for Ujjwala 2.0

​To qualify for the free gas connection under the PMUY 2026 guidelines, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Gender & Age: The applicant must be a woman who is at least 18 years old.
  • Household Status: The applicant's household must not already have an active LPG connection from any oil company.
  • Category: The household must belong to the Below Poverty Line (BPL) demographic or fall under specific eligible categories, including SC/ST households, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) beneficiaries, Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY), Most Backward Classes (MBC), tea garden tribes, or forest dwellers.
  • Income Limit: Household members should not earn more than ₹10,000 per month, be employed by the government, or pay income/professional tax.

  4. Bank Account Details (Account Number and IFSC code) for direct subsidy transfers.
  5. Passport-size photograph.

​Applying online is quick and can be completed from a smartphone or computer. Follow these steps:

  1. Visit the Portal: Go to the official PMUY website at pmuy.gov.in.
  2. Start Application: Click on the "Apply for New Ujjwala 2.0 Connection" option.
  3. Choose Provider: Select your preferred Oil Marketing Company (Indane, Bharatgas, or HP Gas).
  4. Registration & OTP: Enter your State, District, Distributor Name, Mobile Number, and Captcha, then verify your login with an OTP.
  5. Fill KYC Details: Indicate your migrant status (Yes/No). Enter your Ration Card details or fill out the Annexure 1 declaration.
  6. Upload & Submit: Fill in your personal, address, and bank details. Choose your preferred cylinder type (14.2kg or 5kg). Accept the declaration and click submit.
  7. Verification: A Reference Number will be generated. Take this number along with the physical copies of your documents to your selected gas agency for final verification and connection installation.
